Emerged from Indian soil, Dilip Chaudhary is one of the famous artists whose unique artwork is internationally acclaimed. He was born in Calcutta and he received entire education from there. Since childhood he was keenly interested in fine arts. Today, his talent is not restricted to Indian boundaries, but has gained immense fame in other countries like Indonesia, Dubai, Oman, New York and London. He graduated from Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship in 1986 with distinction and achieved Gold medal.
‘Art Appreciation Course’ from Cultural & Art Affairs under Govt. of West Bengal is another milestone he covered during his journey to become a famous artist. He won first award of his career in 1993 for the best water color painting from Academy of Fine Arts. It was the first step toward his ever boosting successful career. Even after the span of more than 20 years, people love visiting his exhibits. He brilliantly added new dimensions to his painting themes ranging from mythology to rustic life. Dilip falls amongst the most creative artists you can find at our art gallery. His artwork has gained impressive appreciation from art lovers and collectors around the globe.
He found acrylic the best medium to portray urban life of India’s eventful city Calcutta. For this reason, you will find most of his work in acrylic on canvas. No prolonged and deep look is needed to realize his limited color choice and balanced strokes. He does not believe in using a lot of colors in one painting. Gray scale appears to be favored by Dilip because he prefers using it in his paintings. Probably because no other color except the contrasting black and white can give the nostalgic feel he wants to portray in his paintings. Well, it’s not an ‘all-time’ sort of thing because in many other art pieces he used basic colors like red, blue, and yellow but again with little contrast.
The detailing of Dilip’s work is very clear and his paintings reflect comprehensive ideas and strong themes. In his unique art, he has focused the urban life of Calcutta and sometimes Banaras. ‘The tales of two cities’ received unforgettable applause from regional to global audience; wherever Dilip took it with him. The busy roads, auto-rickshaws and temples centers his artwork. He has successfully maintained the traditional touch of his birth place in his artwork. The smudged backgrounds add surreal quality to his paintings. He usually uses contrasting tones to bring dramatic aspects to his art pieces.
His work has an ability to bring a wave of nostalgia to the viewers. The artwork of this great artist is a perfect combination of modern and traditional styles with mesmeric ambiance. The sharp to mild strokes and narrow pick of colors has made his artwork so exclusive that today he is enlisted as one of the best artists. Live painting experts can be counted on figures. Dilip Chaudhary is indeed a well-known artist who paints live. People loved watching his live painting skills at Cross Borders Arte during World Art Dubai event.
